MCP — Model Context Protocol
MCP is the open standard OmegaVault speaks natively. It's why you connect once and recall from anywhere — no per-client adapter.
Why MCP
The Model Context Protocol is a vendor-neutral spec for AI clients to discover resources, call tools, and read structured context. By speaking MCP, OmegaVault works with any compatible client — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Zed, future tools we haven't built yet.
How OmegaVault uses MCP
OmegaVault exposes itself as a single MCP server. The server announces:
- Resources — your memories and collections, queryable.
- Tools — search, create, update, delete memories.
- Prompts — canned templates clients can invoke.
Connect once
Authorize an MCP client once and every other MCP client sees the same vault through your OmegaVault endpoint. See MCP integrations for the per-client setup.
Running your own MCP server
OmegaVault also ships a self-hostable MCP server binary — see the MCP Server developer docs.
